End the Year with Happiness
Why Your Support Matters
Say hello to Rocco, a second-year student in Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children’s (WPSBC) Primary Program. When Rocco rolls through the doors at our school, an instant transformation happens. The smiles are bigger. The greetings are sweeter. The hallways are brighter. Because when Rocco arrives, everyone wants to be part of his day. That’s because Rocco embodies what is most important at WPSBC: happiness. Rocco first came to WPSBC through our VisAbilities Clinic, where he and his family took part in a comprehensive evaluation of his visual impairment. From that moment, the team at WPSBC has been behind Rocco and his family all the way. Even in just two short years, Rocco has already made so much progress. From his social confidence and his newfound independence, to his physical strength and academic growth, he is continually achieving new goals. But when we asked Rocco’s family what their ultimate hope was for Rocco, they had just one word: “happiness.” They are thrilled that he’s progressing cognitively, functionally, and socially. However, at the end of the day they just want to see that big smile when he gets off the bus. At WPSBC, we take every child’s academic, social, and emotional progress seriously. But just like Rocco’s family, we also make happiness a top-priority goal for every one of our students. Rocco’s story is not an exception, it’s the everyday reality. All because of donors like you. At WPSBC, happiness isn’t just an outcome – it’s our focus.

“I want the same thing for Rocco that every parent wants for their child – happiness. At the end of the day, if he’s happy, that’s all that really matters to me.”
– Rocco’s mom Chelsea
